Welcome to Essex Community Services (formerly Essex and District Social Planning Council Inc.). Our office is located in the "Hub of Essex County". We are a registered charitable organization, providing community services to the residents of the Municipality of Essex and surrounding areas since 1975. Also at Essex Community Services, we work very hard to bring community based programs closer to home by providing a point of access to a number of programs. A key function of our agency is social planning. As a result, we conduct periodic Needs Assessments to identify the gaps in services, document changing trends, and pinpoint the need for new or altered services. Our most recent Assessment was conducted from August 2001 to August 2002 We are a United Way member agency and also receive funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. We are also a member of InformOntario, InformCanada and the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems.
Financial support from the community is vital in maintaining important services such as: Care-A-Van transportation for seniors and physically disabled persons, Foot Care clinic, Information and Referral, Job Kiosk, Letter Carrier's Alert, Security Reassurance, Coats for Kids, Counselling and more. Donations of any amount are always welcome and appreciated at Essex Community Services.
We are extremely grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for providing a grant to assist with the renovations on a new facility which opened in July 2002 We would also like to acknowledge United Way/Centraide of Windsor-Essex County for providing additional financial support to assist with some of the one-time costs associated with this move.
